SEGA Research Assistant (Volunteer) at VSO Nigeria

Location: Kwara, Plateau, Borno, Adamawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Enugu, Ebonyi, Osun, Ondo, Cross River, Rivers
Duration: One month (Mid-December through mid-January 2019)
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Social Exclusion and Gender Analysis (SEGA) research is find out persons who are excluded in the developmental contributions within the society. The SEGA will be carried out in the areas of Education and Livelihoods in Nigeria which will inform VSO Nigeria’s Signature Programme development process.
Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be expected to carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
• Contribute to the development and finalization of research tools
• Participate in trainings, pre-test and other group activities
• Conduct high quality research in selected states
• Perform data collection, collation and cleaning
• Transcribe all qualitative data collected in respective states within agreed time frame
• Support in the collation of report
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s Degree or HND in social science, humanities or any related field.
Minimum Working Experience:
• Minimal working experience of 1 year in of research, field data gathering preferably state of residence within Nigeria
• Experience and knowledge of Social Inclusion/Exclusion and Gender
• Experience working with/training low capacity teams/grass root organizations
• Excellent documentation and report writing skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in transcribing qualitative interviews
• Proficiency in English and local language (Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo) of communication within states of intervention Language (Oral and Written)
• Proven ability to work within a team and also be able to work independently
• High degree of accountability and integrity
